Summary
- Sarah Michelle Gellar and Michelle Trachtenberg's close friendship since the 1990s
- Gellar's emotional tribute to Trachtenberg on her 40th birthday
- Trachtenberg's passing at age 39 due to complications from diabetes

In a touching Instagram post, Sarah Michelle Gellar, the iconic Buffy the Vampire Slayer, reflected on her long-standing friendship with co-star Michelle Trachtenberg. The two actresses first met when they both starred on the soap opera All My Children in the early 1990s. Years later, they reunited on the set of Buffy, with Trachtenberg portraying Buffy's younger sister and a magical key, Dawn.
Gellar, now 48 years old, expressed how difficult it was to see Trachtenberg, now 40, as anything other than the "little girl" she once knew. "When you turned 16, it was hard not to still see you as the little girl I met on All My Children. When you turned 21, I had to teach myself to not see you as the little sister anymore," Gellar wrote. Tragically, Trachtenberg passed away last year at the age of 39 due to complications from diabetes.
In her emotional tribute, Gellar shared her hope that Trachtenberg's 40th birthday would have been "filled with love." The post was set to the equally poignant song "See You Again" by Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa. Gellar's heartfelt message serves as a testament to the enduring bond between the two beloved Buffy co-stars, even in the face of unimaginable loss.
