Moroccan director Meryem Benm'Barek's latest film, 'Behind The Palm Trees,' has been acquired for MENA distribution by Mad Distribution. The thriller, which premiered in Competition at the Marrakech Film Festival, explores themes of colonialism and societal pressures.
The Tangier-set drama features a compelling love triangle, with Driss Ramdi portraying a young man caught between his fiancée, Nadia Kounda, and a wealthy French girl, Sara Giraudeau. The film promises to push boundaries by examining romantic tensions and their dangerous consequences.
This French-Moroccan-Belgian-Qatari co-production boasts an international cast including Carole Bouquet and Olivier Rabourdin. Supported by entities like the Doha Film Institute and Atlas Workshops, the film highlights an authentic Arab story with global appeal.
