9 Nov, 2025
Summary
- Bees disrupt filming of Nicolas Cage's upcoming horror movie
- Cage sympathizes with bees, calls production's plan "less than thought out"
- Another location shut down due to angry wasp swarm

In November 2025, Nicolas Cage's upcoming horror-drama "The Carpenter's Son" faced a series of unexpected challenges during filming. While Cage, known for his ability to handle chaos, was on set, a swarm of bees unexpectedly crashed the production, causing a logistical nightmare.
Cage, who plays the role of Joseph in the film, was quick to shut down any comparisons to his iconic line from "The Wicker Man," stating that "The Carpenter's Son" is not a comedy, and the bee attack was not part of any elaborate meta bit. Instead, the actor sympathized with the bees, acknowledging them as "brothers" and "sisters" in the animal kingdom, and calling out the production's less-than-thoughtful plan.
The bee incident was not the only disruption, as the director, Lotfy Nathan, later revealed that another location, an elaborate leper colony set, had to be shut down due to a fresh swarm of angry wasps, allegedly drawn in by chemicals used in the set dressing. The moment the wasps arrived on set, production had to be halted.
Despite the challenges, Cage maintains that nothing supernatural occurred during the filming, and the bees were simply doing what bees do. He describes the film as "intense, vulnerable, and emotionally raw," promising that the final product will be no joke, but rather a deep exploration of themes of faith, power, and identity through a dark and unsettling lens.
