Summary

- Samantha Ingram's solo show 'Echoes' premieres Saturday.
- Event expects attendance similar to last year's 1,300-1,400 people.

The annual Beckley Art and Entertainment Exhibition, known as BEX, will transform downtown Beckley this Saturday with a lively street fair from 5 to 9 p.m. Organizers anticipate drawing 1,300 to 1,400 visitors, similar to the previous year's turnout. This year's festival includes gallery programming, live music, and food vendors.
A central feature of the BEX festival is the local premiere of Samantha Ingram's solo production, "Echoes." The play, scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Raleigh Playhouse and Theatre, delves into Appalachian family history and cultural memory, inspired by Ingram's grandmother. Ingram performs multiple characters within her grandmother's kitchen stories.
Festival-goers can also experience the "Modern Masters" art exhibition at José Rizo's gallery and enjoy live music from artists like Silverdale Studios, Hannah & Her Empty Orchestra, and Deathreads. The street fair, a consistent highlight of BEX, will showcase approximately 20 vendors selling handmade goods alongside live painting demonstrations.
