The BBC is set to air 'Hamburg Days,' a new six-part drama series chronicling the Beatles' pivotal early years in Hamburg during the 1960s. Developed by Benjamin Benedict and based on the autobiography of artist and musician Klaus Voormann, the series promises an intimate look at the band's transformation. German director Christian Schwochow and director Mat Whitecross are attached to the project.
The drama will delve into the band's experiences in the bustling St. Pauli district, where they honed their musical skills alongside artists like Voormann and Astrid Kirchherr. This period is seen as crucial in shaping the 'greatest music phenomenon the world has ever known.' The music for the series will be curated by David Holmes.
This news arrives as Sony is concurrently producing a major four-film cinematic event focused on each Beatles member, scheduled for release in 2028. 'Hamburg Days' is produced by W&B Television and Turbine Studios for ZDF, the BBC, and AGC Television, with AGC International handling global sales.
