George Batalon, speaking at a screening for "The Wrecking Crew," humorously claimed that his "Spider-Man" co-stars Tom Holland and Zendaya "copied" him by getting engaged. Batalon, who announced his engagement two months after Holland's was revealed, insisted his own proposal plans were conceived earlier.

Zendaya's engagement was subtly revealed in January 2025 with a ring at the Golden Globes. Batalon then announced his engagement to Veronica Leahov on Instagram on March 5, 2025. He clarified in March 2025 interviews that neither he nor Holland were aware of each other's plans at the time, but reiterated his claim of having the idea first.

Wedding planning for Batalon and Leahov is reportedly nearing completion, with Leahov managing most of the details. Batalon mentioned in March 2025 that Lake Como in Italy was being considered as a venue. He expressed a preference for including adobo in the menu and potentially wearing Aloha shirts instead of a traditional tuxedo.
