The animated horror anthology "A Banquet for Hungry Ghosts" is enhancing its international co-production base with the inclusion of Kucing Hitam, a prominent Indonesian creative company. This expansion, announced at the Asia TV Forum, sees the Indonesian genre specialist joining partners from Singapore, Taiwan, and Ireland/India.
The project is based on the celebrated book by Chinese-American author and chef Ying Chang Compestine, weaving together four distinct yet linked narratives. The anthology recently garnered the NMEA Award at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest, underscoring its cross-sectoral and cultural collaboration.
"A Banquet for Hungry Ghosts" is scheduled for a theatrical debut in early 2027. This collaboration aims to leverage Kucing Hitam's success in the Indonesian horror market, as seen with "KKN di Desa Penari," to reach global audiences with culturally resonant storytelling.
