The Bogotá Audiovisual Market (BAM) has significantly broadened its scope for its 17th edition, held from July 6-10. For the first time, BAM is opening its training and networking sessions to emerging producers from Central America, the Caribbean, and Andean nations, thanks to a new partnership with Netflix. Previously, only Colombian producers participated.
This year's market, a crucial meeting point for the audiovisual sector, also features a groundbreaking collaboration with Unifrance and the French Embassy in Colombia. This initiative will bring 12 French sales agents to Bogotá to connect with approximately 30 Latin American distributors, aiming to create new pathways for circulating films between France and the region. Additionally, a "New Perspectives, New Talent" program will specifically enhance co-production opportunities and IP development within the Andean animation industry and France.
The BAM Talks, accessible to the public, will include notable figures like Mexican director Alonso Ruizpalacios and producer Stacy Perskie. A key discussion will focus on the impact of Netflix's adaptation of "One Hundred Years of Solitude." Talks on co-producing with various countries, including Italy, Canada, and Spain, are also scheduled. BAM is also exploring new frontiers by introducing an industry track on archives and audiovisual heritage, alongside international guests from the video game and immersive media sectors, including a public immersive installation called Vaivén.
