Six Flags Great Adventure is preparing to unveil Bakunawa, a groundbreaking new coaster set to debut in 2027. This attraction, inspired by Philippine mythology, aims to redefine the theme park experience.
Bakunawa is engineered to be the world's tallest and fastest spinning launch coaster, soaring to a height of 382 feet and reaching speeds up to 100 mph. It will also feature the world's fastest inversion at 80 mph, alongside other record-breaking elements.
This new ride is set to break a total of six world records, positioning it among the top five tallest roller coasters globally. Its design incorporates immersive thematic elements and advanced engineering.
The coaster's journey begins with an initial launch from 0 to 60 mph, followed by a second, world-first upside-down launch from 60 to 80 mph. A final launch propels riders to the maximum speed of 100 mph.
Spanning 3,163 feet, Bakunawa utilizes two trains, each seating 20 passengers. Construction on this significant addition began earlier this year, adjacent to the former Kingda Ka site.
