A controversy has erupted around rapper Badshah's latest song, "Tateeree," released on March 1. The Haryana Commission for Women has summoned the artist for March 13, while Panchkula and Jind Police have filed First Information Reports (FIRs) concerning the track.
The core of the dispute lies in the song's lyrics and its accompanying music video. The video features schoolgirls in uniform dancing on top of a Haryana Roadways bus, specifically one branded with "Jind Depot." This imagery has drawn significant criticism.
Haryana Roadways has stated that no authorization was given for the use of their bus in the song's production. Consequently, Jind Police registered an FIR against Badshah after the Haryana Roadways department lodged a complaint regarding the unauthorized use of their property and name.
The Haryana State Commission for Women intervened following a complaint from a Panipat-based NGO. The NGO alleged that the song promotes obscenity, uses indecent language, shows disrespect towards women and minors, and contains inappropriate punchlines.
Additionally, the Haryana government has acknowledged the issue. State Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda indicated that authorities are working to identify the specific bus and depot used in the filming, emphasizing an investigation into how a state-owned asset was utilized in such a manner.
