“Bad Beast” tells the story of Atanea, a young orphan living in a rambling country house. Fearing adulthood and abandonment, she becomes desperate to be adopted, but fears being replaced once she finds a home. This desperation leads her to commit a terrible act in her quest for love and protection.
Ferré, a multi-prized filmmaker, describes the film as being about misfits searching for love in the wrong places. The narrative employs a fable structure, incorporating fantasy stories and a cautionary tale about a bad beast. The film stars María Schwinning as Atanea, with Iría del Rio and Roger Casamajor portraying the couple who adopt her.
Distributed in Spain by A Contracorriente Films on July 31, the film also had TV rights pre-bought by Filmin, 3Cat, and Movistar Plus +. Producers include Diego Betancor, Lucas Casanovas, and Farré at Mimosa Produce, alongside Jofre Farré, Ander Sagardoy, and Eneko Sagardoy at Sumendi.
