Backstreet Boys Brave Snowstorm for T-Mobile Super Bowl Ad
8 Feb
Summary
- Backstreet Boys filmed T-Mobile's Super Bowl ad amid a snowstorm.
- The shoot was condensed from two days to one due to the weather.
- The ad reimagines their hit 'I Want It That Way' for T-Mobile.

The Backstreet Boys recently faced extreme weather conditions while filming T-Mobile's Super Bowl commercial in New York City. A significant winter storm threatened the production, forcing the team to condense a planned two-day shoot into a single, demanding day. Filming took place at a T-Mobile store in Times Square, where temperatures dropped to around six degrees Fahrenheit with snow imminent.
Despite the harsh, cold environment, which band member Nick Carter described as a 'wind tunnel,' the cast and crew maintained a positive and creative spirit. The commercial features a new rendition of the Backstreet Boys' classic hit, 'I Want It That Way,' with updated lyrics crafted specifically for the ad.
Lucy McLellan, chief brand and communications officer at T-Mobile, stated the commercial's purpose is to encourage consumers to consider their wireless provider's value. The ad, which includes cameos from Druski and Pierson Fodé, and a comedic appearance by Machine Gun Kelly, is scheduled to air during the second quarter of the Super Bowl on February 8, 2026.
The production also featured approximately 50 extras, who were loyal fans of the group. Even with the schedule adjustments and late-night filming extending until nearly 2 a.m. for some, including a young actor who filmed opposite Machine Gun Kelly, the team persevered to complete the project.
