Summary
- A baby's cooing disrupted Shakespeare's The Tempest performance.
- Audience members demanded refunds due to the infant's noise.
- The mother was offered to watch the play on TV screens in the cafe.

A recent performance of Shakespeare's The Tempest at the Royal Shakespeare Company's theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon was significantly disturbed by a cooing infant. The baby's noises persisted throughout the first hour, prompting audible frustration from the audience, with some members demanding refunds. Despite the continuous disruption, the mother reportedly remained unconcerned, suggesting the baby might fall asleep.
During the interval, theatre management intervened. The mother of the infant was gently informed that it was unfair to other audience members for them to continue. She was subsequently offered the option to watch the second half of the play on television screens situated in the theatre's adjoining cafe. Former home secretary Lord Blunkett was reportedly in attendance and commented on the situation.
