16 Jan
Summary
- The Ayoub sisters will premiere their original Arabic Symphony at Celtic Connections.
- They will transition from performing to observing their own orchestral premiere.
- This ambitious work reflects their dual Scottish and Egyptian heritage.

The acclaimed Ayoub sisters, Laura and Sarah, who have graced stages worldwide including the King's Scottish coronation and the Royal Albert Hall, are preparing for a particularly nerve-wracking performance at the Celtic Connections festival. In a significant shift, the second half of their show will see them move from their instruments to the audience seats.
They will witness the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra perform their newly composed "Arabic Symphony," the largest work the duo has ever created. Described by Laura as a "creative labor of love," this piece draws inspiration from their Scottish upbringing and their Egyptian heritage, reflecting a decade-long career blending diverse musical influences.
The symphony's premiere on January 23rd at City Halls marks a culmination of their artistic journey, which began in childhood near Glasgow. After initial workshops and revisions, the sisters anticipate an emotional experience hearing the finished version of their work brought to life by a full orchestra.
