Producer Vishesh Bhatt and star Emraan Hashmi confirmed this during an Instagram Live session, reassuring fans that no change to the Independence Day weekend release was ever official.
Bhatt cited extensive action sequences and an injury Emraan Hashmi sustained during filming as reasons for the extended production timeline. He confirmed the film is now complete and ready for its August 14 theatrical debut. Hashmi, in his characteristic style, dismissed the delay rumors, adding that a special surprise awaits audiences on August 6.
The official trailer for Awarapan 2 will be released later this week. The film is poised for a box office encounter with Sunny Deol's Batwara 1947, a situation Vishesh Bhatt welcomed, calling it their first holiday release with the veteran actor.
Further details revealed that the original Awarapan would re-release only after the sequel. Crucially, Awarapan 2 will address a major unresolved plot point from the 2007 film by detailing how Shivam Pandit survived.
