9 Oct
Summary
- Fans speculate Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield may return as Spider-Man
- Garfield laughs off questions about his involvement, says "we'll have to wait"
- No Way Home's success fuels desire to see more of previous Spider-Man actors

As of October 9th, 2025, details about the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars films remain limited. However, the latter is expected to be a multiversal story, leading some fans to speculate that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield might reprise their roles as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
When asked about this possibility, Garfield, the star of The Social Network, responded uncomfortably, laughing through the conversation. Interviewer Josh Horowitz claimed that Garfield will be in Secret Wars, allowing him to have new Marvel crossovers. But as the 42-year-old actor says, the public will have to wait for the next two Avengers movies to see whether the reports about his return as Spider-Man are accurate.
Garfield was previously forced to lie about his role in 2021's No Way Home, until the movie finally hit theaters. The three Peter Parkers had great chemistry, and now fans are eager to see more of Garfield and Tobey Maguire in particular. Whether or not this happens in Avengers: Secret Wars remains to be seen, but it doesn't seem out of the question, as the comics often feature multiversal conflicts with unexpected character crossovers.
