Avatar: Fire and Ash Underperforms in India

Avatar: Fire and Ash has experienced a significantly slower start at the Indian box office than anticipated. Early estimates indicate a first-day collection ranging from Rs. 18 crores to Rs. 20 crores, marking a considerable dip compared to its predecessor. The film's initial performance has been challenged by the concurrent release of the major Indian film Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh.

Despite facing stiff competition, James Cameron's latest installment managed to achieve a respectable opening figure. However, for the adventure film to recoup its potential, a substantial increase in collections over the weekend is crucial. Projections suggest an aim for a 50% jump on Saturday, followed by further growth on Sunday, targeting an opening weekend total of Rs. 75 crores to Rs. 80 crores.

The film is expected to compensate for its lower-than-projected opening in the long run, benefiting from the upcoming holiday period. While weekend advance bookings show promise, strong walk-up sales will be essential to solidify its performance and achieve the desired box office impact.
