James Cameron's "Avatar: Fire and Ash" has rapidly ascended the charts in China, securing its position as the 15th highest-grossing Hollywood film in the post-COVID era. Within a mere five days of its release, the sci-fi epic garnered an impressive $67.1 million.
This remarkable box office performance in China saw "Avatar 3" surpass the lifetime earnings of significant 2025 releases, including "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning" which collected $65.6 million, and "F1" with $63.5 million. The film also outperformed "Tenet," which had earned $66.6 million.
Beyond China, "Avatar 3" is also making waves in North America and is projected to break into the top 10 highest-grossing films worldwide in its second weekend, although it still has a considerable distance to match its predecessors' global success.
