Lyom Institute of Arts and Media recently celebrated its 16th anniversary with a vibrant Kathak dance festival named Avartan 2026. Held in Pune, the event featured approximately 125 dancers, with ages spanning from six to fifty years old, demonstrating a wide range of talent.
The presentation included diverse performances, beginning with the invocation 'Namami Shamishan' and progressing through various traditional and devotional pieces. Students also paid homage to the iconic singer Asha Bhosle with Kathak renditions of her popular songs.
Founder Vedanti Bhagwat Mahadik showcased her artistry in the Shiv-Gauri performance. The event also saw the felicitation of students and contributors, including Tanishka Kulkarni as 'Student of the Year'.
Mahadik discussed her book, 'Kathak Shastra,' designed to ease Kathak exam studies and currently available in Marathi, English, and Hindi. The institute plans to release a second volume of the book.
