In the lead-up to the first-ever 2025 New South Wales Music Prize, Australian producer Ninajirachi has emerged as a frontrunner, securing two prestigious nominations. The 26-year-old artist, whose real name is Nina Wilson, is shortlisted for the main A$80,000 ($52,000) NSW Music Prize for her 2024 album release. Additionally, Ninajirachi is in the running for the A$40,000 ($26,000) NSW Breakthrough Artist of the Year award.
Ninajirachi's rising profile is further underscored by her impressive tally of 8 nominations at next month's ARIA Awards. Separately, her debut full-length album "I Love My Computer" is one of nine titles shortlisted for the coveted 2025 Australian Music Prize. In August, the same month her album was released, Ninajirachi was named Billboard's dance rookie of the month.
The NSW Music Prize, launched by the Minns government in July, aims to "celebrate, support and incentivize" the state's most talented artists. A total of 15 artists will share in the combined prize pool of A$160,000 ($104,000), with the winners to be announced on November 24.
