The 8th edition of the Atlas Workshops, Marrakech's film industry section, will feature 28 diverse projects. This year's selection prominently includes new films from celebrated directors like Asmae El Moudir from Morocco, Mounia Akl from Lebanon, and Amjad Al Rasheed from Jordan, whose works have previously garnered international acclaim.
The workshops aim to foster cinematic talent, with a strong representation from across Africa and the Middle East. Notable participants include filmmakers from Palestine, Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Egypt, Ghana, and Angola, showcasing a rich tapestry of storytelling. Romanian director Cristian Mungiu serves as the patron for this year's event, running from November 30 to December 4.
Beyond films in development and post-production, the Atlas Close-Ups section highlights five feature-length projects in their early stages, primarily led by Moroccan filmmakers. The Atlas Film Showcase will also unveil exclusive first footage from new fiction films, further cementing the workshops' role in discovering and supporting global cinema.
