The five-day Assam Harmony Festival is currently taking place on the Brahmaputra riverbank in Guwahati's Chandrapur area. This cultural celebration aims to honor the birth centenary of the revered cultural icon Bhupen Hazarika and pay tribute to singer Zubeen Garg. The festival is organized by the 'Folk Culture Research and Development Samity' to highlight Assam's diverse heritage.
With a focus on promoting harmony through folk tradition and international exchange, the event features esteemed guests like Koji Sato from the Japan Foundation and Mohamed Khater from the Embassy of Egypt. Local artists will share the stage with international performers from Japan, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. Renowned sand artist Sudarshana Pattnaik and Odissi guru Gajendra Panda are also expected to participate.
Beyond artistic presentations, the festival includes exhibitions by entrepreneurs in handicraft, horticulture, bamboo, and industrial sectors. These exhibitions are supported by various government departments, further enriching the cultural and economic showcase of Assam.
