Asha Bhosle: More Than a Melody Queen, a Culinary Star

Asha Bhosle, the iconic playback singer, was celebrated not only for her seven decades of musical enchantment but also for her profound love of cooking.

She frequently shared her passion for culinary arts, stating in a 2015 BBC interview, "I love cooking as much as I love singing. Cooking comes from the heart." Bhosle learned recipes from various sources, including Peshawar residents for her famous maa ki daal and actor Raj Kapoor for Peshawari biryani tips. Her sister, Lata Mangeshkar, was a particular fan of her cooking, especially her shami kebabs.

This deep culinary interest led Bhosle to open her fine-dining restaurant, "Asha's," in Dubai in 2002. The restaurant chain later expanded to other GCC countries and the United Kingdom, featuring her signature dishes. Bhosle took an active role in the restaurant, finding great joy in wearing a chef's coat, which she described as feeling like wearing a beautiful dress.
