Actor Arya has shed light on his rumored cameo in Suriya's recent film, Karuppu. Arya confirmed he had shot for a small, experimental role in the movie. However, he explained that director RJ Balaji later decided to remove his scenes as they did not align with the film's overall narrative. Arya stated that the director informed him of the decision, and they plan to collaborate on future projects.
This revelation corroborates earlier comments from Karuppu's editor, Kalaivanan, who mentioned the removal of Arya's scenes. The editor also indicated that sequences featuring actor Kaali Venkat and references to other prominent films were similarly cut from the final version. Actor Swasika also previously shared that some of her scenes did not make it to the theatrical release. Karuppu, featuring Suriya as a guardian deity, achieved considerable commercial success, with reports suggesting it surpassed ₹300 crore in worldwide earnings.
