Daredevil Actor Tackles Patrick Bateman Musical

Arty Froushan, recently seen as Buck Cashman in Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again, is taking on the iconic role of serial killer Patrick Bateman in a revival of the musical adaptation of American Psycho. The production is scheduled to open at London's Almeida Theatre, with performances running from January 22 to March 14, 2026. This marks a return to the Almeida for the musical, which first premiered there in 2014.

Froushan, who has often portrayed complex and 'twisted' characters, including an assassin in Daredevil and a vengeful aristocrat in Carnival Row, expressed that playing Patrick Bateman feels like a natural fit for his acting experience. Despite his background in drama, Froushan has prior experience with musicals from his time at the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, having sung in productions of Assassins and West Side Story.

The upcoming production retains the core of the 2014 version but includes new material and staging adjustments, including a thrust stage. Froushan's preparation includes singing and dancing classes, drawing on his experiences in theatre, including a significant two-year run in Tom Stoppard's Leopoldstadt. He also reflected on the enduring relevance of American Psycho's commentary on materialism and the post-truth era.
