Cynthia Erivo's recently published memoir, Simply More, has become the subject of controversy due to the apparent inclusion of quotes attributed to her "Wicked" co-star, Ariana Grande. Fans observed that several passages in Erivo's book bore a strong resemblance to statements Grande made in a December 2024 interview.

Specifically, passages discussing personal scrutiny and public commentary on body image mirrored Grande's interview remarks. The memoir, released on November 18, was missing a chapter introduction where the correct attribution was intended. A fan first alerted others to the uncanny similarity in the book's fourth chapter.

Flatiron Books, an imprint of Macmillan, has acknowledged the mistake, explaining that the chapter introduction, which included proper attribution to Grande, was mistakenly omitted. They confirmed that the book's file has been immediately updated for all future formats and printings, and they issued a sincere apology for the oversight.
