Apple's new international espionage drama, 'Safe Houses,' is poised to star Ana de Armas and Jennifer Connelly. The eight-episode series is developed by Homeland creator Gideon Raff, who will also executive produce and showrun.
The thriller draws inspiration from Dan Fesperman's 2018 novel of the same name. It is set in Madrid following the assassination of a high-ranking CIA officer.
The narrative centers on Sofia Jimenez, a fugitive agent accused of the murder, and Ambassador Elizabeth Winthrop, the deceased officer's widow. They independently investigate the crime, uncovering a vast conspiracy.
This role would be a significant television debut for de Armas, known for her film roles. Connelly previously starred in Apple TV+'s 'Dark Matter' and appeared in 'Top Gun: Maverick.'
'Safe Houses' is a co-production between Apple Studios and Wiip. Otto Bathurst will direct the initial episodes, with Raff also directing. The production team includes multiple executive producers from Apple and Wiip.
