Veteran Indian actor-director Anupam Kher is embarking on a new cinematic venture set in Varanasi, aiming to recapture the thematic essence of his iconic 1984 film 'Saaransh.' This upcoming project will explore the life of a 70-year-old man who feels rejuvenated, a narrative reversal of his role in 'Saaransh,' where he portrayed an elderly character at a young age.
Concurrently, Kher's directorial work, 'Tanvi the Great,' a drama focusing on autism, has launched globally on Prime Video on March 3, 2026. The film champions autism as a strength, following a young woman's quest to fulfill her late father's dream of reaching Siachen, the world's highest battlefield.
'Tanvi the Great' has garnered significant acclaim, including a special viewing for India's President and army chief. Renowned actor Robert De Niro lauded the film as "very moving" after seeing it in New York, offering high praise to the debut lead actress, Shubhangi Dutt.
Kher emphasizes 'Tanvi the Great's' appeal as a rare family-friendly film that fosters belief in humanity. He also noted his recent completion of 'Khosla Ka Ghosla 2' and an untitled film by Sooraj Barjatya, alongside preparing a new musical play.
