Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha has unveiled Benaras Beat, his new independent music label dedicated to original compositions. The label's inaugural release, the song 'Barish Aur Tum,' is detailed in a recently shared behind-the-scenes video.
The track originated from a post-lockdown jamming session, with lyricist Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay's poetry serving as the foundational element. Composer Shashi Suman then developed the musical arrangement, focusing on themes of rain, memories, and romance, initially on the piano.
Anubhav Sinha expressed his immediate connection to the song upon first hearing it, citing the opening verse's initial line as a decisive factor. He also contributed to the creative process by proposing the inclusion of a humming sequence. The search for the right vocalist led to Abdul Shaikh, whose voice was chosen to convey the song's intended emotional depth.
