- Filmmaker questions his past trust in the actor's audience understanding.
- Ra.One, released in 2011, faced mixed reviews and underperformed.

Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha has recently reflected on his creative process during the production of the 2011 film Ra.One. Sinha confessed that he was heavily influenced by his admiration for lead actor Shah Rukh Khan, believing Khan possessed a superior understanding of audience tastes. This admiration led Sinha to make certain decisions based on Khan's input, a choice he now reconsiders with the benefit of time and perspective.
The director acknowledged that it is easy to lean on the reputation of experienced industry figures. However, he now understands that such unquestioning faith, even in a star of Khan's caliber, might have potentially stifled his own directorial contributions. Ra.One, notable for its special effects, starred Shah Rukh Khan as a game designer. Despite its technical ambitions, the film garnered mixed reviews and ultimately underperformed at the box office. Sinha's recent release, Assi, starring Taapsee Pannu, premiered on February 20. Shah Rukh Khan is slated to appear in the upcoming film King.
