Anthony Ippolito embodies Sylvester Stallone's early ambition in "I Play Rocky," a film about the legend's rise. Ippolito secured the role through a bold, uninvited audition tape filmed in his grandmother's basement, defying skepticism from others.
His commitment involved a significant physical transformation, bulking up by approximately 30 pounds over nearly two years. He trained rigorously, even drinking raw eggs, to capture the character's essence.
Ippolito argues that in the age of AI, authentic human storytelling is more crucial than ever. He champions raw, character-driven cinema akin to John Cassavetes' work.
Stallone himself viewed the film and reacted positively, offering Ippolito insights into the challenges of navigating Hollywood negotiations during his breakout period.
The film recently received recognition as first runner-up for the People's Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.
