Annu Kapoor Disputes SRK's 'Last Superstar' Claim

Veteran actor Annu Kapoor has stirred debate by questioning Shah Rukh Khan's claim of being Bollywood's 'last superstar.' Kapoor, who shared screen space with Khan in the 1993 film 'Darr,' expressed skepticism about any single actor holding such a title indefinitely. He pointed to past stars like Rajesh Khanna, noting that cinema continuously evolves, introducing new talent.

Kapoor highlighted that few Indian artists maintain relevance over decades, citing Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar, and Asha Bhosle as examples. He questioned whether Khan, with around 34 years in the industry since 1992, could sustain relevance until 2045, predicting he likely wouldn't. Despite this, Kapoor acknowledged Khan's significant financial success and global fan base.

Reflecting on 'Darr,' Kapoor admitted his memory of working with Khan was hazy, as Khan was a newcomer. He revealed director Yash Chopra had him for only a three-day shoot, leaving him detached from the main production. Kapoor stated he had no professional involvement with Khan, offering only prayers and blessings.

While disputing the 'last superstar' tag, Kapoor praised Khan's personal character, having heard he is a devoted father and husband. Kapoor suggested that these familial commitments, rather than professional fame, might ultimately define Khan's true legacy, as superstars inevitably come and go.
