Anniston is celebrating its 250th anniversary with a community mosaic project titled Pieces of America: A Community Mosaic. Local artist Michelle McGrady is coordinating the effort, which involves residents painting individual ceramic tiles.
The project aims to create a permanent mosaic mural at Noble Street Park. This artwork will feature an American flag and eagle, symbolizing unity and national pride.
Participants can personalize their tiles, with contributions ranging from personal mementos to business logos. Karla Eden, director of Main Street Anniston, and employees from M&H Valve have already contributed.
A second painting session was scheduled for Monday, July 27, offering more residents a chance to participate. The completed mosaic will be unveiled during a public ceremony on August 15.
