Annie Potts on Balancing Shows: 'Harder to Do Them Both'
2 Nov
Summary
- Annie Potts expresses difficulty balancing two shows due to differing schedules.
- She feels somewhat devalued by not being a regular on the spinoff.
- Potts is now a regular on the Fox series Best Medicine.

Actress Annie Potts, who portrayed Connie "Meemaw" Tucker in "Young Sheldon," has indicated that her appearances on the spinoff "Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage" may become less frequent. Potts, 74, explained that balancing both shows is becoming more demanding due to their disparate production schedules. The live-audience format of "Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage" includes breaks, unlike her current project, "Best Medicine," which requires consistent, long filming hours.
Potts previously voiced feelings of being "devalued" after not being extended a series regular role on the spinoff. She described the invitation to appear occasionally as "not a real or generous invitation," likening her experience on the set of the spinoff to being a "guest in my own house."
Meanwhile, Potts has taken on a regular role in the Fox series "Best Medicine," an adaptation of the British show "Doc Martin." She plays the aunt of the titular character, Dr. Martin Best. Despite her current commitments, Potts expressed a desire to see her former "Young Sheldon" costar Iain Armitage guest star on "Best Medicine" in the future.
