4 May
Summary
- Heche allegedly chased producer for interview tape.
- Heche reportedly feared girlfriend Ellen DeGeneres' reaction.
- Heche's manager disputes the producer's account.

In 1998, former "Entertainment Tonight" producer Fran Weinstein alleges Anne Heche engaged in a dramatic confrontation to retrieve an interview tape. Weinstein claims Heche became enraged when asked about rumors of an on-set romance with Vince Vaughn, fearing it would impact her new relationship with Ellen DeGeneres.
According to Weinstein's memoir, "Tortured Soles," Heche demanded the tape back after the interview concluded. When denied, a heated exchange reportedly ensued in a New York hotel suite, culminating in the tape's disappearance from Weinstein's belongings. Heche's manager has since disputed this narrative, calling it inaccurate and emphasizing respect for Heche's memory.
Weinstein also recounts a separate, unusual encounter with Judge Judy Sheindlin in the mid-1990s, where the judge offered a firearm for protection. Heche passed away in 2022 following a car crash in Los Angeles, with her death ruled accidental.
