Ankit Gupta: From Punjab Guitarist to Bollywood Sound Designer

Young composer Ankit Gupta, professionally known as Ankiie, has detailed his path in the music industry. His career began at age 17 in Punjab, initially as a guitarist and co-composer for various music producers. Self-study and practice were crucial as formal music production schools were scarce in the region.

Ankiie's early influences spanned Punjabi music and later evolved to include international artists like Michael Jackson. This broadened perspective informed his work, leading him to expand from regional projects to the Hindi film industry. A major achievement was his contribution to the film 'Welcome To The Jungle.'

For 'Welcome To The Jungle,' Ankiie merged Afrobeats and Tribal House genres with Bollywood elements. This unique sound was discovered and appreciated by Anand Raj Anand and Firoz Nadiadwala, who sought a distinct musical direction for the film. The project also received support and commendation from Ahmed Khan and Akshay Kumar.

Ankit acknowledged the challenge of creating fresh, impactful music for a popular franchise. He noted the difficulty in capturing audience attention within seconds and ensuring the music resonated emotionally and entertainingly, a common hurdle in today's content-rich environment.
