In a recent interview, actress Anjali Sivaraman, who is known for her roles in the 2023 hit show "Class" and the Tamil film "Bad Girl," opened up about the challenges she has faced in her career due to her good looks.
Anjali explained that on several occasions, she was replaced in projects because her appearance was deemed more attractive than the lead character. She expressed her frustration, saying, "I haven't got certain roles because they were secondary characters, and I was more attractive than the lead, so I didn't end up getting work."
However, Anjali also discussed how the film industry has the power to transform an actor's look through the use of hair and makeup. She cited her film "Bad Girl" as a prime example, stating, "In this industry, we have the power of hair and makeup, and this film is the perfect example to show how it can completely change your appearance."
Directed by Varsha Bharath, "Bad Girl" stars Anjali Sivaraman in the lead role and is presented by Tamil filmmaker Vetrimaaran and Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap. The film, which also features Shanthipriya, Saranya Ravichandran, Hridhu Haroon, Teejay Arunasalam, and Sashank Bommireddipalli, was released in theaters on September 5, 2025.
