Summary
- Matt Braly's personal film about a sick child was canceled by Sony.
- He's launching 'Fantasy Project,' an independent animation studio.
- The studio's first project is 'Clara and the Below' via Kickstarter.

Animator Matt Braly, known for creating Disney's "Amphibia," has pivoted to launching his own independent animation studio, Fantasy Project, after his dream film was canceled by Sony Pictures Animation.
The canceled project, a personal story about a sick child inspired by Braly's own battle with short bowel syndrome, was deemed too niche by executives.
This setback led Braly to establish Fantasy Project, an artist-focused studio that eschews contract work to develop original animated stories.
The studio's inaugural project is "Clara and the Below," a series of animated shorts set to launch via a Kickstarter campaign on March 17.
Inspired by Gothic fantasy and the dialogue-free storytelling of "Samurai Jack," "Clara and the Below" aims to push creative boundaries and engage audiences directly.
