An award-winning Korean novel, which has sold 700,000 copies locally and garnered international recognition, is being adapted into an animated feature titled "Long Long Night." The story centers on the last surviving rhino of his kind and a penguin hatched from an abandoned egg, who embark on a shared journey to the ocean. This narrative draws inspiration from Sudan, the world's last northern white rhino.
Director Youm Kyu-bock is utilizing the advanced capabilities of Unreal Engine to create highly detailed and realistic imagery for the film. Currently in production, "Long Long Night" is a collaborative effort by producers Googgoog and Studio Eon, with presentation by The Contents On.
Finecut's film slate also features "The Day She Returns," Hong Sangsoo's 34th film, which premiered at the Berlinale and is set for a theatrical release in the first half of 2026. Other titles include "Tristes Tropiques," an action-noir in post-production, and "Journey There," starring Justin H. Min, which won two awards at the Busan International Film Festival.
