The romantic comedy with genre elements, '42.6 Years,' starring Andy Samberg, has found a new distribution home with Focus Features, moving from Amazon MGM Studios. The film, initially announced in 2023, will now be distributed by Focus Features.
Annette Bening, an Oscar nominee, has joined the cast as Samberg's romantic counterpart, replacing Jean Smart. Michael Schwartz, known for directing 'The Peanut Butter Falcon,' is set to direct the project.
Written by Seth Reiss, the story centers on Ben, played by Samberg, who is cryogenically frozen for 42.6 years due to an experimental procedure. Upon waking, he attempts to rekindle a relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Ruthie, portrayed by Bening. While Ben has not aged, Ruthie has lived an entire lifetime without him.
Universal Pictures International will manage the film's international distribution. Ali Bell and Andy Samberg are producing for Party Over One.
