Summary
- AMC CEO supports Paramount's potential acquisition of Warner Bros.
- Movie theater attendance is nearing pre-COVID levels.
- Studios are increasing film output, boosting industry recovery.

AMC CEO Adam Aron has voiced support for Paramount's potential acquisition of Warner Bros., a move that has raised concerns among some industry figures about fewer film opportunities. Aron believes David Ellison's Skydance, which is pursuing the acquisition, will boost the theatrical experience due to a strong track record in producing successful films.
Aron expressed optimism for the movie industry's future, predicting substantial year-over-year growth for 2026. He noted that domestic box office revenue has been recovering since the pandemic lows of 2020, with attendance levels now comparable to pre-COVID times. This rebound is attributed to an increasing number of films being greenlit and released by studios.
Several major studios are increasing their film output. Warner Bros. plans to release 15-16 movies this year, up from 11 last year. Paramount is committed to releasing 15 films, doubling its previous output. Amazon, a newer entrant to film production, also plans to release at least a dozen movies this year, with 15 slated for 2027.
AMC has also seen a shift in its relationship with Netflix, collaborating on theatrical releases for content like "KPop Demon Hunters" and the "Stranger Things" series finale. These collaborations have proven successful, with AMC driving ticket sales for Netflix experiences, suggesting potential for further joint ventures in 2026 and beyond.
