Amazon's Highest-Rated UK Drama Renewed for Season 2

In July 2025, Amazon Prime Video premiered its highest-rated UK original drama of the year, The Assassin. The series, which starred Keeley Hawes and Freddie Highmore, followed a retired professional killer and her estranged son as they were forced to work together on a remote Greek island.

Now, just a few months later, it has been reported that a second season of The Assassin is in the works. While a deal for the renewal has not yet been finalized, development is currently underway at producer Two Brothers Pictures. Amazon Prime Video has declined to comment on the plans for the show's future.

The first season of The Assassin proved to be a breakout hit, with the premiere episode attracting 1.6 million viewers, outperforming other Prime Video UK dramas that year. The series has become one of the streaming service's biggest successes in the region, alongside unscripted hits like Clarkson's Farm and LOL: Last One Laughing UK.
