- Amazon's GenAI Creators' Fund supports new animated series.
- Project Nara is the AI production platform used.
- Three diverse projects were selected for funding.
Amazon MGM Studios and AWS have launched the GenAI Creators' Fund, supporting the development of three new animated series for Prime Video. This initiative, revealed at the AI on the Lot conference, provides creators with advanced AI tools and funding.
The selected projects include Cupcake & Friends by BuzzFeed Studios, Love, Diana Music Hunters from pocket.watch, and Punky Duck by Emmy-winning creator Jorge R. Gutierrez. These series will leverage Amazon MGM Studios' proprietary AI production platform, Project Nara, built on AWS infrastructure.
Project Nara offers a collaborative workspace for creative teams to generate video, edit, and track progress in real time. Albert Cheng, Head of AI Studios at Amazon MGM Studios, emphasized that the fund places human creativity at the forefront of integrating generative AI into production.
The fund aims to empower filmmakers with large digital audiences but limited access to professional production tools. This move aligns with the growing embrace of AI in animation and visual effects within the industry, following recent labor agreements that have eased concerns about AI's impact.
