'Amaran' Director Bags Prestigious National Honour

Director Rajkumar Periasamy received the National Award for Best Direction for his film 'Amaran' at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony held on September 22. The film also garnered a National Award for Best Music Direction for G V Prakash Kumar's background score. Kamal Haasan, the producer of 'Amaran' through his Raaj Kamal Films International, congratulated Periasamy, expressing pride in the well-earned honour. This recognition marks a significant achievement for Periasamy, whose second directorial venture has achieved considerable success. The film, released in October 2024, is a biographical drama based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, a valiant officer posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra. It explores his personal life and military journey leading to his final mission. Starring Sivakarthikeyan as Major Mukund Varadarajan and Sai Pallavi as Indhu Rebecca Varghese, 'Amaran' resonated with audiences and became a major commercial success, reportedly crossing Rs 300 crore worldwide.
