Chapman's Valor: True Story Hits Screens

Amazon MGM Studios and Imagine Entertainment are set to release Alone at Dawn, a film directed by Ron Howard. This true-life story, based on the book by Dan Schilling and Lori Longfritz, will commence a platform release on December 25, 2027. Following this, it will expand on January 7, 2028, and then a wide release over the MLK weekend from January 14-17, 2028.

The feature stars Oscar winner Anne Hathaway and two-time Oscar nominee Adam Driver. They portray the story of Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman. Years after his courageous actions to save fellow soldiers, an intelligence officer investigates to prove his valor, a pursuit that ultimately led to him securing the Medal of Honor.

Michael Russell Gunn adapted the book for the screen. The film is produced by Imagine's Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum, alongside Hideaway Entertainment's Jonathan Gray, Matthew Rhodes, Ron West, Kristy Grisham, William M. Connor, and Patrick Newall. Thruline Entertainment is also producing the action drama.

Amazon MGM Studios has had a strong year, with Project Hail Mary grossing over $685M worldwide. They also recently premiered Peter Farrelly's I Play Rocky and Basam Tariq's Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother at TIFF to positive reviews. I Play Rocky is set for a November 6 release, while Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother begins its platform release on September 25.
