Alisha Chinai's 'Monumental Mistake': Rejecting Aamir Khan

Singer Alisha Chinai has disclosed a "monumental mistake" from her past, which involved declining a role in the landmark 1988 film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Chinai shared in a conversation that she was among the final two actresses shortlisted for the film, competing with Juhi Chawla for the lead role opposite Aamir Khan.

Chinai explained her decision stemmed from a discomfort with the artificiality she perceived in Bollywood acting. She recalled rehearsing dialogues with Khan but ultimately felt she couldn't deliver convincing emotional performances on cue. This led her to withdraw from the final audition.

She further noted that Aamir Khan was reportedly "quite upset" by her withdrawal but later seemed to find it amusing. Chinai admitted to meeting Khan once after the incident, where he offered a smile, which she interpreted as an acknowledgment of her decision.

Reflecting on the missed opportunity, Chinai acknowledged that while she had a fever at the time, her primary reason for backing out was a feeling that acting wasn't her forte. She believed her strengths lay in singing, and she would be happier focusing on that career path.
