Alia Bhatt's Mom Defends Daughter Against Cannes Snub Claims

Soni Razdan has publicly defended her daughter, actress Alia Bhatt, against recent online criticism regarding her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival 2026. While Bhatt's fashion choices garnered praise, some social media users alleged that international paparazzi overlooked her.

Shunali Khullar Shroff highlighted the online tendency to seek Western validation and criticize prominent figures like Bhatt, a decorated actress and global brand ambassador. In response to such sentiments, Razdan remarked on social media's capacity to reveal societal attitudes.

Bhatt herself offered a clever retort to a comment suggesting she was unnoticed at Cannes. "Why pity love? You noticed me," she replied, drawing attention to her witty engagement with detractors.

Beyond her film career and international appearances, Bhatt is dedicated to her personal life as a mother to her daughter, Raha, born in November 2022. She has expressed a desire to be a present, hands-on mother during Raha's formative years.

Both Bhatt and her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, have emphasized protecting their child from the public eye, requesting privacy for Raha. They aim to provide a secure environment, acknowledging the challenges posed by widespread camera phone usage.

Bhatt also shared her aspiration for her daughter to recognize her professional passion and dedication to storytelling and cinema, even as she prioritizes her role as a mother.
