Skarsgård Tipped for Oscar Nod After Standout Role

In an interview conducted last month, acclaimed actor Alexander Skarsgård discussed his recent work and collaborations with renowned filmmakers. Skarsgård, who is currently being considered as a frontrunner for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar next year, praised his experience working with the Oscar-nominated director of "Sentimental Value."

The actor described the director as someone who "sits right beside the camera and he watches the detail in your performance," adding that he is "after what happens inside the human being, no matter what you say." Skarsgård noted that this approach aligns with his own acting philosophy, as he believes "it's not what you say, it's how you say it."

Skarsgård also reflected on his long-standing collaboration with acclaimed director Lars von Trier, having starred in six of his films over the years. The actor described Von Trier as "a very nice man, highly intelligent, very vulnerable and has a great sense of humor," dispelling the misconception that he is difficult to work with. Skarsgård said he has been able to "try very ambitious ideas" with the director.

"Sentimental Value," which won the Cannes Grand Prix, features Skarsgård in the role of a director character named Gustav Borg, who attempts to direct his daughter on how to forgive him after the death of his ex-wife. The film is set to be released in select theaters on November 7.
