Singer Alexander O'Neal was hospitalized early Friday morning following a devastating apartment fire in Burnsville, Minnesota. The musician, who had recently been released from the ICU after nearly two weeks, was on an oxygen machine when the fire reportedly ignited from its cord. His wife, Cynthia, recounted waking to him alerting her about the blaze, which quickly engulfed their residence.
The couple, weakened from O'Neal's recent hospitalization, managed to escape the burning apartment, descending three flights of stairs while inhaling significant smoke. They were subsequently transported to a hospital, with O'Neal experiencing a longer stay due to respiratory tests. The fire destroyed four units in their apartment complex, rendering them uninhabitable.
Following his release from the hospital later on Friday, Alexander and Cynthia O'Neal are now staying with family. Despite the destruction of their home, Cynthia expressed gratitude for their survival, stating, "We are so happy to be alive." The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
