Bestselling author Alex Aster has unveiled "Starside," a deeply personal novel she secretly wrote over several years. This adult romantasy, exceeding 500 pages, was conceived as a project for herself, distinct from her commercially successful works.

Aster shared that keeping "Starside" private allowed her to recapture the solitary joy of writing she experienced at age 12. The novel features Aris, a protagonist on a quest for revenge against the gods, facing a formidable adversary in Harlan Raker. Writing Aris’s character, with her tragic backstory and inner growth, proved challenging yet rewarding.

The author also reflected on how turning 30 influenced her perspective on success, moving away from external validation towards self-acceptance. This personal evolution is subtly woven into her approach to character development, contrasting with the transformative arcs of her young adult characters.

"Starside" was a departure from Aster's usual publishing timeline, announced just six months before its release. This timing contrasted with typical industry practices, aiming to provide readers with a shorter waiting period. Aster's decision to write this book for herself was also a therapeutic escape amidst her demanding schedule.
